Nissan Leaf Plans to Partake in the Cannonball Run

Nissan Leaf is making a trip overseas for the next generation of street racing. The classic Cannonball Run is taking place in Ireland this year, and will involve a combination of gasoline, diesel and alternative fuel racers riding during it.

The Cannonball Run has evolved over the past 30 years and is no longer a unsafe, coast-to-coast car race. Today the Cannonball Run is a charity event, where supporters and the opportunity to "raise money for Barretstown Camp, which caters to children with cancer and other serious illnesses."1

The EV Leaf is sponsored by ESB Ecars in Ireland this year. ESB hope to prove its electric car is a 'viable alternative' for short and long-distance travel. Those at Teddy Nissan - 3660 Boston Rd - Bronx, NY - 10469 would also like you to believe this.

The Nissan Leaf's batteries will stay charge through existing charge points as well as the over 600 mile long course. The car will likely use fast-charging and conventional charging stations. This specific Leaf can keep up to almost a 100 mile charge before needing each refills.

Nissan's Leaf is, in fact, the first electric car to enter Cannonball Run. Good Luck ESB!
