Nissan e-NV200 to Go Into Mass Production in 2 Years
Nissan recently unveiled its new all-electric NV200 Concept car at the North American International Auto Show. For folks out there who believe this vehicle is an electric version of the Nissan NV200 commercial van, which is slated to become the official taxi cab of New York City, well, you are in fact correct. However, there are three main things that distinguish this vehicle 1) It is an EV 2) Nissan anticipates that both families and business will enjoy the e-NV200 3) It has a unique appearance.
Here at Volvo of Tucson we can't make up our minds whether we would consider the e-NV200 concept van retro or futuristic. Perhaps it is a combination of both. The front is definitely reminiscent of the curvaceous LEAF; the rear, however, looks akin to boxy vans you'd see cruising down Route 66 in the seventies.
Another way in which the Nissan e-NV200 resembles the LEAF is with its driving range. That is approximately 73 miles on a complete battery charge. Which, considering the e-NV is a generously-sized van, is pretty impressive.
This electric vehicle, produces zero emissions and does not need any diesel or petrol. As In terms of engine power, the specifications concerning horsepower and torque were not unveiled at this month's auto show. Although, the automaker has clearly explained that the new e-NV200 will offer payload and cargo space equal to the NV200 (~1,700 lbs and 145 cubic ft. respectively).
